Congratulations on your new role with North Central Health Care! We look forward to seeing you at your upcoming orientation. Below are a few resources, tips, reminders and contacts to help you through the new hire process.

Tips For New Hires

  • Our Wausau Campus where you will join us for your orientation, is undergoing some exciting changes and is currently under construction. Allow yourself some extra time to navigate the campus on your way to orientation.
  • Make sure you have all the employee health pieces completed (TB test read, paperwork completed)
  • If you haven't already provided any required certification cards and/or 2 forms of identification (driver's license, social security card, passport, or birth certificate) you should bring those along with you to provide to Human Resources.
  • You may need a mask when you arrive to our facility due to current outbreak conditions within our nursing home. Look for signage posted upon arrival. Not all areas require a mask, but we will walk you through which ones do or you can just look for the signage posted.
  • Your lunch is provided your first 2 days at work! Coffee, water and snacks are provided in the morning. You are encouraged to bring a lunch or dine in our Bistro, Employee Cafeteria or Canteen as well. You will get a tour on your first day of work to learn how to access these areas. Credit/debit card are accepted in the Bistro and Canteen. Credit/Debit only accepted in Employee Cafeteria.

Kick off day two with an overview of all the benefits available at North Central Health Care. Work with the Enrollment Team to sign up for any benefits you are eligible for. Today, you’ll meet with our Compliance Team and after a break for lunch receive a tour of the campus to help familiarize with the locations of our various program locations. Later, discover the culture of this organization, why it sets us apart with those we serve and how it impacts us as a team every day. Finally, after meeting with your manager to have lunch, we will close out the day completing trainings in our Learning Management System.

Clinical employees of NCHC will start to dive into some specialized skills needed to care for our vast populations. Start off they day by listening to the CART team describe our partnership with law enforcement. Orientation will include hands on demonstrations and valuable skill related content to help you succeed including learning about your electronic medical record.

ADDITIONAL TRAINING FOR DIRECT CARE STAFF

Based on the role you were hired for, your orientation will be tailored to your specific program moving forward.

Behavioral Health Staff

After organizational orientation, staff entering our Behavioral health programs will get extensive training on handling crisis situations including techniques to help with verbal and physical escalation. Additional skills training you will receive includes passing of medications, fire safety and first aid and choking (depending on your position). You will learn from other staff members the ins and outs of your areas and working with your populations through on-the-job training. Continuing education is provided throughout the year.

Long-Term Care Staff

After organizational orientation, staff entering our Long Term Care program will work with department managers to dive into their role. This training includes learning about wound care, role-specific documentation, partnering with other departments, learning your schedules, and many other helpful topics. Part of orientation into Long Term Care also features skills training on mechanical lifts, repositioning, taking vitals and a variety of other daily tasks.


FAQ's

Where do I park for orientation?
Parking is available in the Mount View Care Center parking lot right off of Marshall Street. Just enter 2400 Marshall Street into your GPS and it should guide you right in! Park in Lot B. Please do not park in the spaces closest to the buildings. We save those for our patients, visitors, and those with disabilities.

Do I have to wear a mask for orientation?
Masks may be required when you arrive. Masks are available at the front entrance. Watch for signs!

Will there be lunch or can I bring a lunch to orientation?
Lunch will be provided your first 2 days of orientation. We will also provide light snacks, coffee, and water during the first three days of orientation. If you would like to bring a lunch that can be stored in a nearby refrigerator. (Please note: Microwave access is limited) You also have access to our Bistro, Cafeteria, and Canteen on-site. You can pay with cash, credit or debit.

What do I wear for orientation?
Business casual is best - please no jeans, shorts, or sweatpants. Also, do not wear flip flops or sandals.

Do I need to bring any documents to orientation?
Yes, if you haven't already provided any required certification cards and 2 forms of identification (driver license, social security card, passport or birth certificate) you should bring those along with you to provide to Human Resources.
